Monica De La Cruz, who has been serving as a U.S. Congresswoman for Texas’ 15th district since 2023, has recently shared several updates through her official social media. These posts highlight her interactions with local and state officials on critical issues such as water management and city development, along with a moment of personal condolence.

On April 16, 2025, De La Cruz reported her team’s engagement with Texas water officials during their visit to Washington, D.C., in collaboration with the American Water Works Association. "My team met with Texas water officials who were in Washington with the @awwa. They discussed the 1944 Water Treaty, available water-related grants, and the urgent need to improve aging water infrastructure across Texas." The focus was on addressing longstanding water issues including the 1944 Water Treaty and the state of Texas's aging water infrastructure.

Later that day, she expressed her condolences regarding the death of McAllen's Assistant City Manager. "Saddened to hear the news that McAllen's Assistant City Manager, Joe Vera, passed away this morning. My prayers are with his family and loved ones today." This tweet conveyed her sympathy and personal connection to the local government community in her residential city of McAllen.

Into the following day, her office's involvement in local city management matters was highlighted. "Staff from my office met with @floresvilletx Interim City Manager Monica Veliz to talk about community growth, infrastructure needs, and future projects that will help move the city forward." Monica De La Cruz, born in Brownsville, Texas, in 1974, currently resides in McAllen. She graduated with a Bachelor of Business Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
