Rep. Monica De La Cruz, who has served the U.S. Congress representing Texas' 15th district since 2023, recently shared a series of updates on social media. Born in Brownsville, Texas in 1974, De La Cruz now resides in McAllen and holds a BBS from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
In an April 17 post, De La Cruz reminded her followers that submissions for the Congressional Art Competition are closing soon. "Submissions close this Friday! Enter the Congressional Art Competition for a chance to have your art displayed in the Capitol for one year. Guidelines and submission instructions are below," she noted.
The following day, April 18, the congresswoman extended a Good Friday message, quoting from religious scripture. She shared, “1 Peter 2:24: ‘He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.’” She added a personal wish, "May God's peace and eternal love be with you this Good Friday."
On April 19, De La Cruz highlighted a recent meeting with the American College of Surgeons. The discussion focused on improving healthcare policies to ensure better outcomes for patients and providers. "My staff had a productive meeting with @AmCollSurgeons to discuss ways we can improve health care policies and ensure better outcomes for patients and providers alike," she reported.
Monica De La Cruz, currently 48, replaced former U.S. Congress member Vicente Gonzalez in 2023 as the representative for Texas’ 15th district.
