City of Mercedes issued the following announcement.
Mercedes experienced a break to one of its main transmission water lines, causing the water tower to lower its level.
This diminished the normal water pressure to homes and other structures.
The Public Works crews are preparing/working to fix the repair by doing a live repair (meaning that the water will not be shut down) so that another valve will not be compromised toward disrepair.
The mobilization of a 6” water pump will be used to remove any standing water from the work site.
Once the water level is at a more acceptable level, the water pressure will be normalized. The Public Works Director estimates that things should be back to normal on or about noon time today.
It is unfortunate that this break and depreciated water pressure resulted, but the crews are working diligently to getting them repaired as rapidly as possible.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during these events.
