De La Cruz highlights community achievements and contributions in recent updates

Rep. Monica De La Cruz, a member of Congress representing Texas’ 15th district since 2023, recently shared a series of updates via social media touching on various subjects, including highlighting the accomplishments of individuals in her community and expressing gratitude towards public figures.

On April 9, 2025, Rep. De La Cruz introduced an intern, Pedro, from the Valley. Pedro, who attended the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), provided essential local knowledge and experience to the congresswoman's team. He played a critical role as an Army ROTC Cadet by navigating Veterans Affairs and summarizing Armed Services briefings. According to De La Cruz, Pedro's contributions were highly valued, as seen in this tweet.

The following day, Rep. De La Cruz extended birthday wishes to the Secretary of Agriculture, Sec. Rollins, acknowledging her leadership and dedication. Posted on April 10, 2025, her tweet praised Sec. Rollins for her inspiring commitment to rural America and her efforts to support farmers and ranchers. De La Cruz expressed gratitude and pride in working alongside the Secretary to safeguard American interests.

Later on the same day, De La Cruz congratulated students from Thelma R. Salinas STEM Early College High School for their victory in the Congressional App Challenge. Juan Fregoso, Rodolfo Chavarria, Julian Tamez, and Diego Pimentel developed an app called SafeRoute, designed to provide real-time updates on students' bus routes. Their achievement was lauded in a tweet posted on April 10, 2025.

Monica De La Cruz has served in Congress since 2023, after succeeding Vicente Gonzalez. Born in Brownsville, Texas, in 1974, she currently resides in McAllen. De La Cruz graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Business Studies.
